Wolf River

The wolf is a fearless but kind creature with many secrets. They live and hunt in packs, and care for their young. Each wolf pack has a leader, or an alpha male, and his mate, the alpha female. Next comes the secondary wolf, or also known as the beta wolf. The pack keeps going down the list until it reaches the z-wolf, the lowest of them all. You can tell a wolf's position by looking at it's tail, where the alpha leaves its tail high in the air, down to where the z-wolf has its tail between its legs. Unlike most creatures, wolves mate for life. That means they live with their mate and stay with them forever. They also care for their young until they are old enough to care for themselves. At that point, they either start taking positions in the packs such as becoming the alpha or beta, or, they could leave and join a new pack, or form one of their own. A wolf's life is very difficult, and it all relys on the survival of the fittest. The weak will die, and the strong will survive. Wolves live throughout most of the western parts of the world, mainly in North America. They live in mainly foresty and artic-like areas, but some survive in the desert. To survive, wolves hunt on small and meudium-sized animals such as carabou, or reindeer, rabbits, squirrls, and other creatures. Wolves are mostly at the top of the food chain, they do not have any predetors, well, almost. The wolf's biggest enemy is men. Humans do not nessecarily kill wolves, but we do destroy their habitat and take away their food. That is why, today wolves are a highly endangered species. If we don't do something to help, they could become extinct. For more information about how to rescue the wolf, first read our "See the Real Wolf" section and then, if you want to, join the pack. Now, wolves are very well adapted to their habitat. They live in a very cold climate, so their think coat keeps them warm. Their habitat also provides them good food and shelter for them to survive. Unfortunitly, we are destroying their wonderful habitat and changing their life. That is why wolves are dying out. If we don't do something, quick, these beautiful and wonderous creatures may become extinct.
